I can always give you his number and website if you would like to check for yourself.

Not to sure if you know but there is a revival meeting/ new race series of 4 double headers next year, A class for upto 1000cc and 1040 to 1300cc as well as bigger classes. I think your clan would be able to compete, several imps will be out and Swimpster is hopefully going to compete with his clan. Signing on for the series is free. Why not come along and get involved you will save on the your travel costs and Whilst you are there I will show you the new 16 valver without rev limiter.

Your most welcome to come around, car has 57 and 157 on the cars , You will find us easy we have the big Yanky motorhome about 32ft.

Cars are pretty pristine as well.

See you there 8)

I don't believe the regulations for the revival series have been finalised yet, well not according to Hugo from the the Classic Sports Car Club who I discussed it with at the Nuerburgring several weeks ago. Also I understand the series to be for period cars and not modern equivalents so I don't see Swimpster's or the Lotus-e Clan Clan being eligible.

As regards the Andy Jones downdraft head my take on it would be that it is a modern development and as such would not be eligible for a Historic series which has a period defined set of regulations. Now sitting the engine upright and fitting a set of downdraft carbs, as was done in period, could be argued as being a acceptable and thus OK. Interpretation of regulations is a minefield as I have found, particularly those of the HSCC.

Peter

How about this quote

"If some people believe they have a monopoly on truth, then are conversation and common ground possible? If so, what would be the difficulties and benefits of such a conversation?"

or are we going for the more profound many truths many paths etc

Speedemon, kind words, cheque is in the post ha ha.
Just to put my 2p in on the downdraft job, I was initially questioned by scruts about running in period etc, then the htc committee had a meeting and decided that as it was similar to the cosworth Mae Anglia engine and was indeed no problem to run in htc.
The true gains were never found as the engine never ran with the new piston, or latest cam, although it is now built up ready to dyno.
My thoughts were that I could never justify the time taken to machine the head, hence why I send the heads to ''ultimate performance'' for cnc porting. He has all the tooling and can turn heads around very quickly. His work is simply stunning; all his heads are identical so no scratching your head trying to work out why one engine is better than the other!
Hope that clears things up for you guys.

Just as I thought, there are "many truths", and Andys' last post and Petes' too, confirms what I was told @ the National. :D

Pete...yes, as someone who knows my Clan fairly well, you are right and it's nowhere near eligible for any circuit racing. 8)

Scott....you're right on the money!

Anyway. allowed or not, it is interesting to see what can be made. That 5-bearing crankshaft looks nice but terrible expensive. But can the 3-bearing crankshaft do the same job (with some modification?)

As Col says, the Brands Indy meeting is on Motors tonight, but it is in 2 halves, the second will be shown next Tues at 8pm (both with a couple of repeats) so the saloons might be tonight or might be next week.

Might be because he hasn't got any 'plywood' in his car

I thought that was some pretty good footage for the imps, every time they showed one it was passing a Lotus cortina.
