Imp takes FTD at Prescott

Post by StuartC » Sun Oct 03, 2010 7:52 pm

Congratulations to Ian Moss on taking FTD at today's Autumn Classic meeting at Prescott in his Hillman Imp.
On a wet track nobody got within a second of Ian's time of 54.17 (not a bad dry time for an Imp at Prescott!). Ok there were no modern big engined single seaters but there were Ford engined single seaters such as a Lotus 51 and 61 and Lotus Elans, various TVRs e.g. Chimaera, Griffith, various Morgans - e.g. V8 and Aero 8, various Triumph TRs of all sorts, Mini, Lotus Cortina, some more Imps and various Scimitars, MGs of all types oh and a Mclaren M12 Chevvy, Chevvy Camaro and a 911.

Brilliant job!

It's a 1200 Imp according to the results sheet. But as ever it's not just size that matters, grip, skill and bravery in wet conditions makes all the difference.

He also holds the record for the Paul Matty Sportscars Classic Handicap Championship Saloon Cars @ 49.98 sec since 27 June 2010. 8)

How come we don't hear that much about him on here...or have I been asleep again? :?

Imps are rather good at hillclimbs in the rain, it reminds me of the day when the late David Stanbridge won the Ginetta class at shelsley walsh in his G15 on slicks, on studying the results we realised that he posted the fasted non single seater time of the day and I was second, its all about traction.

You forgot to mention he was also 68 years old at the time!

'Nice to see he's still remembered.
