Hello there. Anybody know what the track layout will be at this meeting ? Poss what they call the new "arena" one ?

According to Silverstone's provisional calendar it will be on the National circuit again, as the International track is no more (I had the pleasure of deleting it from their drawings). Having said that I've heard rumour it may be on the Historic GP track (same as last years F1 from start to Stowe, then cut corner of Vale into Club, Abbey is a flat out left and then into the complex).

According to HSCC site the circuit is now confirmed as the Historic GP. Get your gearing sorted for the Hangar Straight boys and girls!

Yes, but with two differences. Vale entry into Club is faster than last year's F1, and Abbey is a flat out left just like the good old days instead of the slow left-right that last year's F1 did. These bits were incorporated into historic racing as it was felt that older cars' brakes took too much abuse if they had to be used so much each lap. Hence you will be using the 'Historic GP' circuit. Formula 1 lap time was about 1m20s IIRC. If you can do it in 2 mins you'd be cheating!!!

Full entry list for this meeting now up on the calendar page of the hscc site www.hscc.org.uk and there are 44 cars entered for the saloon race as well as large grids for the other 12 races over the weekend. Looks like it should be great entertainment and with a large entry in most races, cars will soon spread out to fill most of the track!

There's also a G15 entered in race 2 on Saturday and, although this one's not Imp-powered, a Costin-Nathan GT entered for the Guards Trophy that evening.

Had a further problem with it so we are probably going to have to stick the 1120 back in.

Are you trying to disuade the fans from arriving in their Imp-powered chariots in case they lose an engine?!?

I presume you mean the replacement 998 - it isn't permanently dead, but the head has cracked between 2 and 3, so will take too long to get repaired in time to use for Sunday. I wanted to use the 998, as it is slightly quicker than the 1120, probably because the 1120 doesn't have a set of carbs correctly jetted for it - I just use the same ones that were on the 998. I need to get it on a dyno or rolling road but time is a problem. Also have to carry an extra 30kg with the 1120.

Cheers - Simon

Look on the bright side, I've heard that welded heads are stronger for it. I actually meant the 998 that let go at Silverstone. What has the post mortem revealed?

What an excellent day!

I would like to say thanks to all the impers making the effort to run their cars amongst some serious machenery, it makes for spectacular viewing!

Excellent drive by the chap in the blue and silver imp, it was funny watching you almost running over the other cars coming into abbey, the imps carry so much speed by comparison.

Best noise in the race award goes to the red car with the white bonnet, sounded different to all the other imps and very similar to a suzuki bandit! :D

Thanks again chaps, excellent day 8)

I didn't see you James! Shame...

I agree cracking day at t'races. Bad luck to the casualties of the weekend - I've seen some cracking photos of the roll - I hope it doesn't cost too much to put the cars right. Well done to Colin Gunton for winning the class - bad luck to Andy for the der-de-der-de-ders...

Sorry I couldn't stay for the race itself but the wicked witch of the ex- saw to that. Driving home to Watford we went through some pretty heavy rain so those at the circuit were lucky it stayed dry.

Hi,

That last picture has to be one of my favourites - print it in black and white and your not sure if it's 2010 or 1967.

Another cracking days racing - shame there are some long nights ahead for Shaun and Martin to repair their damage.

My wife is even staring to get into the imp racing now as well, even going as far as encouraging me to have a go - where is that tape recorder :D

All the best
