Hi,

Another cold but stunning Imp racing day.

Andy Jones won class E in both races, finishing 4th and 5th overall and battling up at the front of the race as well.

Simon finished second in class in both races and Shaun Hazlewood had an incident out of our site which resulted in a bent passenger side front corner and a damaged drivers side rear wing.

Can't wait for Silverstone, even the missus is getting into watching the Imps so the racing must be good :D

I am sure somebody more in the know will fill in the rest of the details.

Best regards,

Darren

From class E Andy Jones was rapid to take two class wins with my dad coming second both times, the imps in general get stuck behind bigger cars at Cadwell that can take them on the straight but are slow on the corners,

Shaun was involved in a 4 car shunt in the first race (not his fault however) but recovered to get out in the second race.

A few of the imps went out of the first race with misfires but stormed through from the back of the grid to get right up there (Colin and Steve Platts who ended up third in class in the second race)

Martin Bramwell had 2 good races and ended up midfield as he couldn't get past a pair of Jags in the first race that took up at most of the track at all times.

Ian Gunton finished the second race after a problem in the first (although my results sheet suggests he finished the first. All 8 imps finished the second race. Vince Frost had a comparativly trouble free day and finished well.

Race 1
4th Andy Jones (was briefly in second on the bumper of the leading Lotus Cortina)
7th Simon Benoy
12th Martin Bramwell
17th Vince Frost
19th Shaun Hazlewood
20th Ian Gunton

DNF Steve Platts
DNFColin Gunton

Race 2

5th Andy Jones
7th Simon Benoy
10th Steve Platts
11th Martin Bramwell
13th Colin Gunton
15th Shaun Hazlewood
18th Vince Frost
19th Ian Gunton

Notable moments of interest were the 3 imps of Steve, Martin and Colin passing a Jag S type at the same time, Andy briefly being in second chasing the leader and the imps coming from the back in the second race Steve taking 12 places and Colin taking 9 to finish highly. Andy was also only .3 of a second off the fastest lap of the day.

Sounds like an amazing day's racing. I would love to have made it to spectate. It certainly sounds as though the Imps acquitted themselves extremely well against much more powerful and exotic machinery - as usual!

Very well done to all involved! :D :D

Brilliant performance by Andy - he hung with the leaders in both races, seeing off many larger engined cars.

I could see him ahead but there were a couple of cars between us that I couldn't pass, but still a good weekend and as reported earlier, despite some troubles in race 1, all the Imps ran well in race 2.

Big gap now until Silverstone on 15/16 May, on the historic GP circuit I think.

shame i missed out on the fun guys ? Will be out again at silverstone in may with the help of andy and baz . Got a tow car lined up for end of may and hopefully a trailor. If it dont come off will hire trailors till end of season and buy a new brian james one at the end of the year. Hope to have my 13" wheels for silverstone and my diet is going better than the cars ! :D ie glass doors for the future ! But hope to improve again next time out. Thanks again for all your help and to john for his stunning photos if posted to me today ! Jim

The next HSCC round is on the weekend of May 15th/16th back at Silverstone again, no timetable yet but the entry form suggests the saloons will be racing on the Sunday. As all the imps finished the final race at Cadwell i'd expect a pretty big entry.

That's a shame, Chris as it clashes with our next Committee Meeting, so I won't be able make it at all as I'm elsewhere on the Saturday as well.
