Post by fsmlittler » Sat Mar 01, 2008 5:47 pm

Searching through old photos I came across the following photos.
This first one had 'AMOC Silverstone 1966' written on the back of it but I've no other infor on who it is etc.

These two were taken at castle Coombe in 1991.

The last one I think is the car owned by Peter Stride and actually was a 'Hartwell Imp', I seem to remember it appearing in an article in Practical Classics.

Steel-Bodied Racing Imps

Post by ImpManiac » Tue Feb 02, 2010 4:00 pm

In a similar vein to the 'Spaceframe Imps' and 'Rally Imps' threads, it would be wonderful to see some photographs of steel-bodied racing Imps - HRSR, hillclimb and sprint competitors and so on.

Whilst it's not ready to compete in yet, I shall post some photographs of my own 1966 Singer Chamois, a wanna-be sprint and hillclimb contender, later on. :D

Let's see the photographs, then! 8) Engine compartments, interiors and external shots - as well as in competition.

:D :D

Here's one of my special saloon Imp that I raced in New Zealand in the early 1980's. It was a steel bodied 998 Imp with alloy doors (made those myself with internal frames and skins, all put together with solid rivets) and Bevan mods which I raced in the Open Saloon car series in New Zealand in the early 1980's. It still exists and is owned by Tony Mann who also owns the famous Sidchrome tools Imp which was originally driven by Jim Richards......as shown here:

and here about 2006 after restoration to it's former glory:

May I also suggest that pictures get added to the gallery, the problem with them being in threads is if the thread gets deleted then all the pics go in one swoop

just a suggestion :D

I would also suggest that when replying to a post that contains a photo using the "Quote" option, the link to the photo should be deleted. That's the bit of code that has IMG in brackets before and after it.

This will speed up download times on slower older pcs as it will stop the thread jumping around whilst the pics are downloaded.

Hi All

I know this is an old topic but i've just found this site and wanted some help to find the white imp in the picture sponsored by nationwide crash repairs, i believe the car to have been owned and raced by nick humpreys in the early 80s and then sold to martyn sims whos name is on the car in the picture.
i'd like to now any think about this car and if anyone knows where it is or pictures that would be great.

Many thanks

The Number 6 car was the works Paul Emery car driven by no other then the young Bill Mcgovern wearing a Kangol crash helmet probably left over from a Lambretta/Vespa days.
