I've posted a piccie of the dash in my hillclimb car at http://www.impspeed.co.uk/dash.jpg

Tried using the forum album but it doesn't seem to want to play tonight....

Mine is one of the GRP copies - good if you want to put the dials in different places as I have - rev counter in direct line of sight!! If you change your mind you can cut it out completely and put in an ally panel.
It was made by Impspeed when Ron and Barry were still working together. Might be worth giving Ron a ring - see http://www.impspeed.co.uk for contact details. There seem to be plenty of these around - they come up on ebay fairly regularly.

There's been a couple of dash/interior threads reciently so i thought it's about time i posted a pic of my car's dash. (it should be in the Album as well as a thumbnail here)

I used a chrysler dash (well top and end plates), the ends are standard, the top was modified by welding plates in to flatten out the standard scallops, and a pod added for the tacho, all in sheet steel, then smooted out with a skim of body filler and primer. The face of the dash is sheet aluminium allowing you any combination of gauges, lights, switches, radio etc.

I had it covered by a trimmers in alcantara, i didn't fancy covering the top bit myself as it has compound curves at the end and it had to be stitched around the tacho pod

Hope it provides you with some inspiration

Matt,

You do see them up on ebay nowadays, but what guage of GRP it will be is anyones guess, but why go that route.

The standard pod is dirt cheap, get creative. Get a couple to play with plus some decent thickness sheet metal. Use a marker to mark a line around the outer shell of the front part. Cut along the line to leave the outer section with all the fixings used to fit the two parts together.

With care radius over the new leading edge to provide a safe lip, strip the paint of inside and out, then weld in a suitably shaped piece of sheet metal. Grind back the welds them decide where you are going to have the dials by offering up the complete pod to the car with the steering wheel and seats in place. Cut the holes and spray satin black

For about £10-£15 and a weekend or so, you can have a metal Rallye dash which only the real afficianados could tell apart.
