maybe a good idea to take photos of all the repairs done , that way the customer can see its done correctlyand have a record should he / she wist to sell in the future . some thing im crap at doing but there you go.

Many Imps are botched in this area so much so as to be dangerous .If it aint done correctly then theres no point in doing it at all.

Yes great work youve done there . Distortion can as you say be a huge problem . I like yourself use a joggler which both helps with this and gives a level surface . I also use self tapping screws as a temporary way of fitting panels , i find doing this does help a lot with distortion , but as you sa...

I see youve plug welded the repair at the rear of the back wing , did you seam weld after .I was informed that semi welded joints like this can cause filler to crack over time due to expansion and contraction , so on that basic i seam weld when using repair panels ( not the bottom of sills etc ) . A good primer to use whilst in the middle of a welding job is funny enough weldable primer . Sounds daft but you can weld over the top of it without the need to grind it back off to get an earth , can be used as normal primer if required . The frames are almost impossible to repair and thats if you can get the bl***y thing apart to even try , probably best to source a good S/H one . :D

Input shafts do wobble around a fair bit whan theres no lump attached but its odvious you need a new input shaft seal

Can't disagree there Dave! The Airfix kit is nice though, and worth more than most Marinas probably. :wink: Certainly quicker :wink: :wink: and probably stronger than the original ( better glue and panels )

Dave, Fit a BMC B Series in it, that'll REALLY upset them! :twisted: I had an 1800TC Marina once , s**t car , but to be fair the motor was pritty bomb proof . ran it by mistake with no water in it for 10 miles , temp off the scale . kept going though and was fine once replenished . woundnt fit one ...

It seems that my post awarding Dave the anorak award has been misinterpreted :oops: . I wasn't trying to be offensive in any way. My reasoning was that to some extent we're all considered to be anoraks, just by our interest in all things imp and meeting up to camp in fields because of them etc etc....

Yes your right the car has lived all its life in Cardiff. Has a little plaque on dash board giving Glanfield Lawrence as dealer More useless info time , Glanfield lawrence were at 2-10 City Road with their service and parts dept at 167 Woodville Road :roll: just in case you wanted to know.

I too have a MK1 chamois , used to have a red stripe the same only mines a C reg . Is the paint code 108 by chance ( foam grey with a tartan red stripe ) if so i only know of 3 others inc yours the same colour :D :D :D . Great to see another one back on the road. :lol:
