Re: Adventures in Welding

I looked up about Imps and did find this :-) Imps were often mischievous rather than evil or harmful and Imps are often shown as small creatures. Their behavior is described as being wild and uncontrollable but sharing the same sense of free spirit and enjoyment of all things fun. Most of the time ...

Re: A Californian drying out in South Africa

Given that the engine uses no oil and for an 875cc sport spec engine gives out very reasonable power, I am just stuck with this oil leak. It seems to drain out when the car is static, engine running or not, there is zero splash back on the forward side of the engines sump, meaning at speed the cran...

Re: A Californian drying out in South Africa

The clubs getting the rubbers remade so Bob tells me, the ones I had from him recently were NOS and had gone hard, they had split across the corners the next day so I ended up putting the originals back on again, they were much softer rubber and fine. ?? My thoughts on this: Back in 'the days' rubb...

Re: Nods news, Experimenting again - throttle pedal pivots

I agree it's a bad design from start and yours is a much better one. However, I don't think anyone at Rootes ever imagined that their "low end" car would be alive some 50+ years after its' introduction. Then again - if someone actually thought so - I'm sure that bean counting engineers (Chrysler peo...

Re: Petula , "66" Singer

I think the low friction bit was some grease, as you say looks like ordinary tube . I took one assembly apart many years ago, to turn the star wheels. The tubes looked like they had grease (same as used for king pins?) in them. Filled the spiralled wire and the tubes, assembled and wiped off the ex...

This is the first - and I'm sure the only - time I can say: I did that long ago. :)
Think it was three (or more?) years ago when I first fitted the 998 to the Californian.
