Re: HSCC Historic Touring Car Championship

Ha ha - thanks Mike and I understand where you are coming from, but I made the decision to go to Perth when the HSCC announced the dates. Mind you, I didn't know then that things would be going so well! The timetable for Croft also puts me off - if both our races had been on the Saturday, then maybe...

Re: Historic Touring Cars 2013

Hi John - the absence of the 3 amigos was noted and I could not find anyone who had received a note from your Mum! The Imps had a slightly mixed day but generally OK. Andy Jones had the prototype 1150 out for the first time but had a few issues. He had things apart between practice and the race and ...

Cold and or wet can suit Imps quite well though it does also suit the Minis. Shame that cars have to be fia standard - we wouldn't get away with our HRSR spec Imps then!

Re: Silverstone classic?

I shouldn't think so - historic saloons at this event have to conform to appendix K regulations and this makes Imps generally uncompetitive, partly due to the unrealistic weight.

Car 90 is Gideon September but it might have been Jon Orr who built it. Remember that these are lightweight fibreglass doors with plastic windows, so don't have to be so securely mounted as standard doors.

Unfortunately, they don't finalise the timetable until much nearer the event, the saloons usually race on the Monday but it can't be guaranteed.

Re: Rear spring rates and shock absorbers

Matthew - I think that perhaps the Spax are your problem. I used to run Spax but they struggled, particularly through slow corners as the rebound wasn't sufficient causing hopping. Rear shockers are crucial on an Imp and I have fitted better ones (I find them better anyway). I know that some of the ...

Bearing in mind that a full race Imp engine revs to 7000rpm max, your noise test should be conducted at 3500 and will not be overly loud. We are allowed 105db at 2/3 or 3/4 max revs measured at 1m. I have an across the back silencer as there isn't really room for a large enough silencer otherwise - ...

The race that I won outright was the up to 1300cc race, the bigger cars had a separate race first race. David Heale won the equivalent race last year upholding Imp honours. For the rear seat removal, I would just remove the cushions as per Paul's mail and work around the back when painting. I've never known anyone successfully remove all the screws into the arch area.

Good luck with the car.
