Re: GP.2 racing Imp test - onboard video

I am trying to source the original castol sticker for the roof........ Your car looks great, I used your car to give my dad a push in building ours. It took me around 15 years but he finally agreed. I will e-mail you on Monday regarding the wheels, dont buy them until you have spoken to me as compom...

Re: Bevan IMP

800IB springs with double adjustable shocks are not a great ride......No silencer....ear plugs etc etc.

I cant stand driving on the road on a good day......

Actually it will go through an MOT easily, lights etc will all be working. The slicks may be a problem

Re: GP.2 racing Imp test - onboard video

Hi Knutspeed I presume your dad is Doc..... Dont be fooled by the colour of the car...... My car is painted the original Chrysler lagoon blue and we still think it should be darker. If you look at photographs of the original car they always look different. As long as we keep our two cars apart it wo...

Re: Bevan IMP

Dear All, Thanks for your comments. To answer a few questions the fronts are 7" and the rears are 9". The final Bevan IMP actually run with 8" fronts and 10" rears although this was on much lower profile tyres. The wheels were special order from compomotive. The fronts on the car are actually minili...

Re: Bevan IMP

Just thought I would add a few more pictures of the car with the new wheels. The tyres need to be sorted as they are too high a profile. We have also just started the 998cc engine...looking for a JK gearbox. http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss268/Bevan-imp/DSC02204.jpg . http://i582.photobucket.co...

Re: Bevan IMP

Hi John From a visual point we are using the 1972 car with the fibre glass arches etc as our base car. We are trying to combine the best bits of all the cars. This is what we are aiming for: http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss268/Bevan-imp/1972THRUX4BEVAN23-a.jpg To allow it to be raced today, all...

Hi All Just thought I would post a couple of pictures of our new car, its being built to celebrate 40 years of my grandfathers Championship wins. The camera has changed the colour of the car so it looks a bit pale in the shots. The wheels are not the finished items (they need to be alot wider!!!) It...

Andy,

Not building a replica Bevan IMP.

Built by the Bevan family means it is a continuation.

The car is due out of the body shop this weekend with GP2 arches and cage fitted( I cant wait...........).

Re: Brands GP on 5th July with 7 Imps!

Hi All Just thought I would congratulate all the IMP racers at Brands on Sunday. It was good to see all the Imps mixing with cars which should have been far quicker. I met Shaun Hazelwood again after 18 years, we last met when mobile phones were large batteries with a handset bolted on. He now has g...

Triumph Herald front Suspension

The final answer to the Triumph suspension. Answer...... The front of the car was designed by Tony Hilder who worked for Pipers, Lots of single seaters used herald front uprights and he thought it would improve the breaking through the design of the supsension. As previously stated it made no differ...

Imp beating Fiats

Just remind the Fiat drivers of when they came to the U.K in the 70's and got thrashed by the Bevan Imp.

My Grandfather was talking to a Fiat owner 20 years after and he was still making accusations of the Imp being illegal.

Nice to hear people still talking about my Grandfather. If you ever need any info, e-mail me and I will pass the question onto my father (Peter), I asked him about the supsension and it was no better than the original. Martin Morgan Jones book is a good read and worth putting on your Christmas list....
