Re: NPB 646L - Update

3 hours in the cold today. Took over an hour to get a manifold stud changed :( Radiator back in eventually, as spire nuts did not want to accept the bolts that had been removed from them before. :!: :!: :!: Then trying to find things I had removed only a couple of weeks ago. Very cold at the end of ...

My thanks to Mark and James for their efforts this morning. Really appreciated. :) :)

Recon engine in place with only 'minor' hiccups.
I learnt a great deal.

Now down to me to fit ancillaries asap.

Was a trial fitting as all pulled out now. Only took an hour including carb, air cleaner, fuel pump. Replacing 875 with a 930 with sports exhaust and either Weber 28/36 or twin SU's. Not a very good day weatherwise but am not aching as much as expected    Tomorrow should see exhaus...

Re: NPB 646L - Update

Hi Colin
Thanks for your comments. Appreciated and understood. :)
I am intending to replace all 3 self-tappers and have a new rubber sleeve to fit.
Plan to use 'cut to length' Serratub retainers for the rubber sleeve.
Picture to follow in due course.

Fitting new petrol pipe.
Took 3 hours with 2 of us crawling around underneath and most of time trying to get pipe into hole in boot floor.
Short of stripping out all the front suspension etc., is there some easier way :?: :?:
For next time I need to do it :o :o

Re: NPB 646L - Update

I've never fitted those bolts in 25 years of Imping. PITA to fit and remove plus in my experience do nothing.

Leave them out, is my advice. 8)[/quote]

I have a technical question for those more savvy than myself. How do you fit the 3 No: bolts at the back of the stoneguard surround please? Seems one needs the car on a hoist or lifted more than my jack can cope with. Needless to say they were not fitted when I stripped the radiator etc., out http:/...

"Magic wand" gearlever syndrome :? in an Imp can be caused by various factors but the cheapest and most probable one to sort out is the spherical bearing at the bottom of the gear lever itself.
