Re: NPB 646L - Update

I have been upgrading the electrics and planning to add some extra instruments and a DIN CD/MP3 player. I have had the complete dash system out to upgrade to the Sport version one I purchased. Basically have added 2 fusebox system, 1 at front and other where the control box used to be. These offer p...

Re: DRU 596L First car Project

Hi
It would seem I just need to 'play about' with positioning to get the same effect as you.
Thanks for that.

Re: DRU 596L First car Project

Hi there
Looks as if you got the bib spoiler sitting very well.
I got one from Malcolm which does not seem to fit all that well. Seems a little too wide.
May I ask how much fettling you had to do to yours please?
Thanks

Re: NPB 646L - Update

As the weather was clear and bright I decided to have a go at getting the complete dash out. Took about 2 hours in total. :) Was very careful with sorting out which things I had to remove and which could stay. The main puzzle was the bottom rail of the dashboard past the steering column. So now I ca...

Re: NPB 646L - Update

Not very much has happened over the last 2 weeks as I have been down with a very bad stomach bug. However yesterday I managed to get the final bits on the dynamo to alternator conversion done. Have gone the route of stripping out all the 'old' wiring and also incorporating additional wires for rever...

Re: NPB 646L - Update

HE Radiator is now fitted with new hoses as required. Welding has been done on the passenger side engine cover hinge area so it is now solid metal. The cover opens and closes as it should. Front windscreen has been replaced with a new item complete with rubber surround and chrome insert. This seems ...

Re: NPB 646L - Rear Window Woes

After the recent heavy rain I found that water was entering at a good rate!!! A previous owner had used about 2, maybe 3 tubes of sealer and then jammed the lock as well. Decided to get the window open and replace the whole lot with one purchased recently. New seals from 'Imp parts' were also obtain...

White Imps do rule, but I`m still planning of adding a wee bit of Blue to my repaint. I`ll call it Polar Ice White. :)
I thought a splash of 'Porsche Viper Green' as a side stripe a la Lotus Cortina would not go amiss :) 8)

Re: NPB 646L - My IMP collected yesterday.

Investigation and work has been proceeding slowly but surely. Many plans under way for cooling, braking and electrics. Have purchased:- Alternator HE radiator plus hoses. Disc conversion from Colin Valentine. Fiesta calipers, pads etc., 13" Superlite wheels. Miscellaneous electrical items. Replacing...

Re: Mallory park29th of this month special saloons

Thanks to Colin for bringing the part I was after. Found the journey OK but last part of road network was a bit confusing. Never been to Mallory before so found everything there of interest. Luckily got there early. Heard about the confusion of which practice session he should have been in. Also hop...

Re: Mallory park29th of this month special saloons

There was a moment when Colin was doing a 'quick-change' to get in his race-suit.
I was walking over to introduce myself with camera at the ready.
Discretion overcame me and the moment passed, as he disappeared for his first practice session.

Picture of engine bay.
Found one could just lift the earthing clamp off the battery :o
Battery is on charge as it 'just' spun the engine. Went straight to 9amp rate on the charger.
Am planning general tidy and clean up in this area.

Re: My IMP collected yesterday.

My first Imp had symptoms exactly as you describe. The thermostat was partially seized (I tested it in a pan of water on the cooker) and the radiator weighed about twice what my brand new replacement HE unit from Malcolm weighed! :? That's a lot of limescale! I only use deionised water in my Chamoi...

Re: My IMP collected yesterday.

My prediction is that the thermostat is removed and that the rad is blocked internally. As Rich mentions above, the first thing I always do is replace the rad as a matter of course - unless the car is known to have had a replacement HE rad in the recent past. I treat them as consumables... I have j...

Hi there

Thanks for the comments.

Sadly my bank balance is not the same order of magnitude as the other Tom referred to, so we will take things one step at a time.

The weather has decided that pictures and further investigation not possible at the moment.

NPB 646L - Update

Hi there Picked up my white (was green) IMP Super yesterday evening. MOT till next June. It is in need of some TLC and will get some upgrades over the coming months. One thing that I was a little apprehensive about was the 'irregular' behaviour of the temperature gauge. Stayed just in blue zone for ...
