Well done on getting it on the road again. You can get new pumps from the Rootes spares company in the Netherlands (http://www.rootesparts.com), would get in about a week. See how the current setup goes, & change it with the next coolant change? Always good to have decent spares too (old pump/hoses).

Re: FFG 549 D restoration
Took the head of my new car yesterday, as suspected the gasket was gone, in fact a 5mm piece missing between cyl's 3 & 4. Hmm
The car & bits look great - almost too clean/shiny to rally! Soon sort that I suppose.

By 'him' I meant the kid (William I presume), starting him on Imps early.
While I am typing, do you know if the front spoiler is off any particular car, or just a section of nylon angle?

Just married - nearly (the green Imp was the groom's car which is why it doesn't have ribbons)
Edit - I say nearly as the service was still in progress at this point. Bride & groom left in a Series 1 Minx

The Imp looks good with the re-done stripe (although the deterioration of the old doesn't come through the computer monitor)
How do you find the VW to drive compared to the Imp?
Edit - also looking back at the earlier posts I realised why your Imp seems a bit familiar - from the Aust CC mag...

I suppose the theory behind leaving the car in the gravel trap is "what's the worst that can happen, another car runs into it"? Haven't seen the vids yet but sounds like an interesting race, will have to get onto the videos tonight. On another note, I was told that Jerry Lenstra sold the engine & bo...

A sheet with some info about Imps and your car in particular on each side window is a good idea (or on a free-standing sign). Have the engine lid open and just try to keep the people away, or try to keep up with the questions etc

Welcome Micheal, nice Sunbeam.
Another question would be how many Imps are there on this forum in Australia? A supplementary question would be what constitutes a countable car, eg I have the remains of a couple of shells at least that will never see the road again, along with a few more that could.

Hi Spacehopper, The car was destroyed in a big accident at Sandown, although I have heard that perhaps the remains may still exist. Harry Lefoe passed away several years ago. Wow that is an interesting collection - I like the way the cars have been stored in the shed there. Looks like some 1930's Minxes there plus other British cars from the era, the Mk2 Super Snipe is a favourite model of mine too. I hope you kept the twin-headlight front from the rusty Imp!

Andrew Bryson and Jason Rowley have won the handicap prize in the Early Classic section (pre-66) of the Targa Wrest Point. They are a very experienced crew in this type of event, and it is good to see the result. http://www.sportcom.com.au/targanews/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=...

That's ok, they are a standard Rootes item, just not used on the Imps here but were on other cars. RHR corner is a guaranteed rust spot due to the battery. Other hot spots are sills, doors, area just behind the front wheel arch (normally above the sill line and inboard from the wheel arch lip), side...

Looks like a good shell, it is interesting to see the differences in the door badging from what we had, I'm assuming it is a Mark 2 or Super badge? We had Mark II in block italics badge above the side flute. Also the metal mud flaps are a good period item & there is a set on one of the cars I have.

Me three, just found this thread (although I had seen a pic of the engine & gearbox mated together before), and it is very impressive.
I'm also curious to know what the weight of the Aygo engine is compared to the Imps (also the Suzuki G13B) if you have the numbers to hand Christian.
