Re: oil sump

Where I have to use a wet sump I increase the depth by 2 inches, using the existing bottom of the sump as a baffle and then modify the pickup to be positioned in the new bottom extension. This works well and is currently being used on Michel Chapel's Clan in the French Maxi 1000 series. Pete Richar...

Re: oil sump

Let's put it this way:
How do you deal with oil surge in long turns?
Anyone who have a picture of a rebuilt and baffled oil sump?

Re: J Knight set

Kristian Required ratios will depend on the rolling radius of your tyres, the number of revs your engine will allow and the length of the longest straight. So they will be different for a car running 80 profile historic crossplies compared to someone running low profile slicks, all else being equal...

Re: J Knight set

Yes, I noticed the standard first and second. First on my standard Imp feel so terrible low, that's why I was curious I have seen a recommendation for circuit gear ratios: 13.53 7.93 5.70 4.48 At this moment the EBay gearset is up to £280. So far a bargain! What other special items is necessary to a...

Gears!!

If J Knight don't make gears anymore. Perhaps Uwe Wulf can do it? http://www.deutsche-werke.de/goggo2.htm Look at the video where he is making his own gearbox to the Goggo. Making the gears can't be the problem, but to have someone to produce them at a reasonable price. The eastern Europe have a lot...

A con rod side track

Are the con rods from the early engines (-63) the same as the later (-70)?

I have a set of con rods with good pistons (+ 0.020) that I was going to deliver to the dustbin.
(Then I hesitated for a moment, got back to my senses, never throw anything away etc.)

Re: 1-litre race series updated December 11th 2009

Great Britain, the country of motorsport, the country who invented motorsport!!, and no 1-litre series?? Odd. But it's important to take the right decision about rules, what will be allowed. The more exotic, the more expensive (like 5-speed boxes) Or the handicap system. More power, more weight. Kri...

There are big engine minis, but are they drivable? (if there are tire restrictions)

125 c.c. that would have changed the world!

Yes, if the engine was a 1000 c.c. from the beginning, (with a 1300 c.c. in reach) the Mini would not been dominating the 1300 class, there would have been Imps all over the track. Even today.
And engines wouldn't be so bl***y expensive!!

Re: Historic racing

I thought the car has to be a "Rally Imp" and then 998 c.c and DCOE are allowed If it is supposed to go in the "Historic" class.

Re: Historic racing

Yes, I forgot to say. "Standard but prepared" is the right sentence I guess. So far it sounds resonable. So it's the head that will put me on level with the other Imps?

Historic racing

Does a 1000 c.c engine for historic racing have to be terrible expensive ( Like the 1100 or 1200 engines?)
Is standard crank and conrod used in a 1000 c.c. engine. Are you allowed to use anything else?

Imp in video films

Have been searching in You Tube for on-board-IMP-racing-videos when I by accident did run into some videos from Shrigley Engineering homepage. A blue Imp (Simon Benoy) chasing other cars around several tracks! Very entertaining! Can I find more track videos somewhere else? Anyone who knows about thi...
