Re: 1965 Datsun engined Imp. Shiny things and nipples.....

Have a think about running pipes so close and not insulated from each other as the hotter coolant flows one way the colder side picks up heat as it travels back from the radiator and you can get a higher temp at the water pump into the engine than came out of the radiator. i insulated my stainless p...

Re: Nods news , Its normal .

I have never been able to make my mind up about EVANS. I prefer the idea of some pressure to pack the coolant onto the hot areas inside the engine. From all the info i have read and what i have learned is if there is the correct amount of pressure to allow the water to flow efficiently and keep it p...

Early and late arms, altering pivot height, spring length and dampers settings all need to be thought about as a package if going low for race purposes high pivot with later arms may well work for the springs and dampers you have and also the reverse. i run later arms and the low pivot on the rally ...

Re: Nods news , Its normal .

Well in tests i have found the cap on my way there is a 00000.1 deg C temp drop  The reason i suggest it with pressure cap on the rad is the overflow pipe and bottle do not have to cope with system pressure. So can be any plastic bottle and use the basic overflow pipe you do not have to have a ...

looking good and very fast progress. Early front arms have smaller bushes the bush mounts are welded to the arm at a different height and the arms are slightly longer making the wheels stick out further.

Re: Nods news , Playing again

look at the drawings again it is the same for front rad conversion ducting as for heater duct to fan. if you make a sharp angle in the corner you get turbulance and the air stalls as it packs itself into the corner like liquid going down a funnel, you have a large volume it is less dense, you taper ...

Re: A Californian drying out in South Africa

the idea is a non pressurised OVERFLOW bottle not expansion tank pressurised. If you look at a an imp rad top tank you cannot fill it brim full so you will always have a pocket of air that will give increased cavitation and hence not be as efficient at cooling. the idea is to fill this air pocket so...

Roy i have mentioned this in other posts but if you want to improve the cooling add an overflow bottle. leave 7 psi cap on top of rad, the pipe that runs from the filler neck of rad to a 1 litre bottle. Make sure the pipe extends into the bottle to within 10 mm of the bottom. The bottle should be ve...

Andy you need to order a proper pint of milk or two with the old foil caps. Place the caps over the spindles and tap the arms on. looking very smart Chris, one thing i would reccomend is sealing off all around the edge of the rad. you have a large gap below the rad, this is the route 90% of the air will take rather than go through the small gaps in the fins, it is the air passing over the fins that provides the cooling, the mo...

The car has done a couple of events and was unfortunately rolled into a river. It will be re-built at some point. It is a proper string alignment gauge to ensure car is square and the tracking on all four corners is correct.
