Re: Topic dedicated to HSA Speed Championship Class N
wow cheers for the information Eric, looks like Ive got my work cut out for me then! Would the full cage need to be a safety devices type all marked up? Or would say a 32mm CDS made cage be sufficient? Do you think I would stand a chance in Sports Libre? I would stay with the imp engine/box but if ...

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
Thought I should probably mention that I did another solo last sunday, this was run by Oxford motor club and was at Silverstone using one of their car parks. The event was won outright by Steve Woodings in a MK Indy (lotus 7 style kit car with a Honda Fireblade engine) so he didn't count for class ...

Re: Topic dedicated to HSA Speed Championship Class N
Mark The HSA classes are scored independent of the class the car is run on the day, but - our championship regs were passed back to us last year when they went to approval, because we had classes the had multiple categories. We had to do some work to appease the MSA, which was very galling to see a...

Re: Topic dedicated to HSA Speed Championship Class N
The problem we have for a championship is the only way we can have cars from all the above 4 categories in a Class is to make the Class for Modified Specialist cars which allows all the cars in but all the cars need to conform to the safety regs for the Category of the Class. We are not allow to re...

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
Bristol MC are running a solo at Castle Combe (in the paddock, not on the track) tomorrow. Entries are full but there shouldn't be a problem getting in to spectate as the track is only being used for a track day as far as I know. I will be wielding a stopwatch.

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
I withdrew my entry to our March event as it was oversubscribed, and because I'd had too many continous weekends of motorsport and evening meetings in the preceeding week. The August one I ended up clerking. Had to exclude one of my club committee for failing scrutineering (expired MOT). Made the cl...

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
I am going to do autosolos some day - hopefully next season. My car is not up to scratch at the moment and would not have got through any scrutineering required. The driver's door does not shut properly Shouldn't get through an MOT like that, never mind event scrutineering! (to be honest it...

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
On the very first autosolo ever I competed in a (as it was then) 17 year old Audi Coupe, which is an absolute barge with all the manouverability of a pregnant cow, especially the 4wd version that I had. Great on autosolo it wasn't, but it was a huge laugh. Last year someone in a completely standard,...

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
where are the rest of you? If you look on the SR's for the Bristol MC event in a fortnight, I'm clerk of the course! :P. The usual clerk is at Kames with the British sprint championship so I got lumbered. Last week he forgot he'd roped me into this and tried to get me to go to Scotland to run cours...

Regulations for the 2nd August Bristol MC event at Weston-super-donkey airfield are here: http://www.bristolmc.org.uk/EventRegs/solo2regs.htm We've played with the entries selection criteria a bit so members of invited clubs not doing the CMSGCC championship get a fair chance of getting an entry thi...

Re: Topic dedicated to HSA Speed Championship Class N
Congrats on the class win Eric :). If the CoC (who lives about 1/2 mile from me) had travelled up from Portishead on the Saturday morning to the event I would have got a lift with him so I could spectate - I like MIRA but there's no way I could have blagged my way past the security on my own. He did...

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
In fact, get your entry in as the last one we held in February filled before the closing date and we had to turn something like a dozen people away, either by sending back their entries or telling them not to submit them at all.rootes wrote: get your entry in then you will have an incentive to do the donuts!

Re: AutoSolo's - A great way into motorsport with any imp etc
The MOT on the Singer is up two days before and it has a big hole in the floor as a result of using a trolley jack to change a wheel after a puncture on a trial. I wasn't expecting it to go through the floor  ... I am going to try to get it fixed in time, whether I'll also be able to get all ...

The Bristol University Motor Club is promoting an Autosolo run by the Bristol Motor Club*- and I will (hopefully) be taking part. My biggest concerns are the donuts (as they are fairly tired) and the (do)nut behind the wheel. The other problem is the oil leaks- don't think they would go down too we...

I haven't got the results in front of me but from memory: The event was won by an Elise and there was another just (0.8s over the whole day I think) ahead of me as well. Good to see interest in these taking off, the first ever in the UK was run by my local club after our chairman got the MSA to issue a special permit for it (since the event type wasn't in the blue book). I did it in the Audi Coupe Quattro I was using as an everyday car at the time, which was quite a...

If your budget is limited you don't need gloves to comply with the regulations. One thing that should be mentioned is that if you fit an item of safety equipment to the car then it must comply with the regulations, even if the fitment is optional in your class. I was told I had to remove my Halon ex...

I started sprinting in a completely standard Imp. The beam splitter, yellow tape on the earth lead and a visible throttle return sping (one on each spindle) were the sum total of car preparation. Cages, extinguishers, what-have-you are all optional in roadgoing. You must have a beam splitter, specs ...

Since the Davrian is together and provided nothing bad happens between now and the end of the year, I'm hopefully going to do some HSA rounds next year, at least the MIRAs as I think it's a great venue and hopefully a Loton. I'm not a great fan of hills, or of curborough so not sure about how many o...
