Re: Isle of Man - Idea.

For dates when there are no other major events taking place on the island it may be possible to get a combined ferry/accomodation deal at a cheaper rate. The tourist board would probably advise as they are keen to attract visitors there.

Re: Race harness life span

You need to check the regs for your events. The 'lifeing' of seats and belts is an F.I.A. requirement which applies to events of international status and not neccessarily to MSA sanctioned events of National status. I don't think there is any reg in the blue book which gives authority for a scrutine...

Thanks Speed over the finish line is 78mph on the first run which is about 7500 in 4th (according to the spreadsheet I use) with my short gearing. I dont get time to look at the rev counter but the 1st shift light on the dash top is programmed to come on at 8000 with the other 3 following in 400rpm ...

If you've ever been to Gurston Down you will know just how steep the final climb is up Burke's Rise from Ashes to the finish line. Last weekend saw the HSA visit Gurston and 'Pimpdriver' Eric clocked 95mph over the finish line in the 998 turbo Clan!! To put that in perspective on a good day when I'v...

Bad luck Eric - or is it good luck that it lasted so long? Have you got time to get the 998 finished for Prescott? I notice they've got you down as 998 - premonition? Good luck with the re-build anyway.

Congratulations to Ian Moss on taking FTD at today's Autumn Classic meeting at Prescott in his Hillman Imp. The entry was restricted to 80 cars due to the longer course being used and apparently was heavily oversubscribed. There a...

Simon,
Its an Excel Spreadsheet and you can either enter the tyre size in mm or the rolling radius in feet.
You can download it from this page:-

According to the 'Gearboxman' calculator for a 185/60-12 tyre with 4.8 gear @ 9300 rpm = 120 mph.
Standard size 155/80-12 tyre with 4.8 gear @ 9300 takes it to 125 mph
Either way pretty damn quick for an Imp!
