Rear brake linings for comps

I have a car that has been used in 45 minute endurance races by the previous owners on an occasional basis over the last 20 plus years but the rear drum linings do look standard. Fronts are ford discs with Mintex pads. I'm using it for more of the same and thinking a competition lining on the rear d...

Re: Water and oil temp

Thanks all, worked it hard and the water temperature seemed to stabilize around 80 and stayed there until the end of the session care of my new digital sensor with analogue readout. I had been a bit jumpy as the previous outings had seen the temp around 90 but it seems that old gauge was reading 10+...

Water and oil temp

I'm racing my 998 Imp at Donington this weekend. It's an endurance race so 45 mins long. I've fitted a digital water gauge and it was well worth it because the old one was over reading by around 10 degrees. 45 mins at full tilt could be pushing it with the temps do you think:?: :!: Imp003 So what do...

Re: Camshaft capers

compared the Newman cam with a kosher ge3, totally different, the real one is a flatter profile across the top, completely different to the naked eye, more than a few thou here and there. Newman have now supplied another so we'll see what happens on the rolling road Imp003

Camshaft capers

Whilst my 998 was out for gearbox work we decided to go from an R23 to a GE3. Newman Cams have just started doing these. Fitted it and took it to the rolling road. Way down on power, what would normally be 75+ bhp at the wheels was now barely 63. Seems their first batch is out of tolerance and they ...

Re: HTP pre 1966 5 speed box etc

Hi Doc, Thanks for confirming that was actually the case, I can go ahead now and change the ratios in the box. No dog clutches allowed by FIA that's a bit of a shocker, goodness knows what they are thinking there. Did you rebuild yours with syncros then :?: :?: Imp006

HTP pre 1966 5 speed box etc

I have the old Malcolm Paul Fraser Imp replica. Raced it once last year, found that there was way to much of a gap between 1st and 2nd. Have spoken to Dennis about ratios and he would be able to sort something. But before I take the plunge I just need to check the viability of running a 5 speed in p...

tyre pressures for track

998 Imp steel panels, CR 65 4.50 x M 13 tyres. What pressures would you recommend for a first track outing :?: . I realise the views will vary but just as a rough ball park figure as I am totally in the dark... Imp006

Many thanks,

Oil Filter for comps

Servicing my 998 club racer. Pulled the filter which is a Fram CH2807 (supposedly a high performance jobbie). Since this car was raced these seem to have become hard to get. I have rung a couple of suppiers but they can't suggest an alternative. I do have a standard Unipart GFE110 but that looks muc...

Dunlop racing tyre supply problem

Dear all, As you probably know Dunlop are moving their production to Portugal. Ordered some 4.50 M13 CR65 racing tyres for my newly acquired 998 club racer. Have been on back order for 2 + months now. The car has not raced for 7 or so years so the old ones are like rock. The kind people at HP Tyres ...
