Re: Sunbeam Imp Sport OGP933P

Cheers Dave.
Decided to remove the bellhousing in situ. Had to grind down some spanners to fit those nuts!!
Pinion bearing looks a little blue but again not used to looking at them. Also better view of the cwp.
Not too much swarf but definitely present.

Re: Sunbeam Imp Sport OGP933P

Took the inspection cover off. Not too bad, not much to see on the cover itself, the bright spots in the photo are just marks on the cover. There is some silver evident in oil residue though. Teeth look ok but cant say from my limited experience. I guess best to remove bellhousing and wash out diff ...

Re: Sunbeam Imp Sport OGP933P

Yep, will do that Dave. It had been run previously so their would have been a thin coating of oil on the bearings etc but wasnt sure about the diff as that was added later. Although I did look at the diff I didnt pay too much attention to how coated with oil it was. Fingers and everything else cross...

Cheers Dave. I am just going to fill it with oil(!) and drive it and see. I suspect the diff was dry as being the biggest problem and possibly the output driveshaft seals.

Re: Sunbeam Imp Sport OGP933P

Good and bad news! Its up and running fine. But forgot to fill the gearbox with oil in my hurry to get it out and up the road!! Managed to run up and down the local hill twice with a stop of 10 mins in between before realising! Probably a mile in total. Only ran gently in first and second so suspect...

Yes ..the black highlights/trimmings will work with this too! 8)
You mean the bluetac attached cardboard cutout NACA duct!! I have been wondering about adding one to feed cold air to the carbs but most advice has been that it may not work in this position.
