Your workshop is really looking good. Have you got a decent heater in there so to make it more inviting for winter evenings of old car tinkering
So jealous at the condition of your imps floor. Very lucky indeed as its saved you a lot of work!

Imp001 :(  I was looking for a poorly looking smilie but that's all I could find. This is actually the first time I have had to call out a trailer in NZ to get rescued in a classic. The last time I called the AA was for our Nissan Sentra, which funny enough (though not at the time..) ha...

So Hannah and I took the Imp for a two day road trip. Part business and part holiday. On Friday we drove up to Lake Rotoiti, Nelson lakes national park. On the way we checked out some old classic cars a fella owns who wants me to do a load of bodywork on. The Imp drove really well. The sun was out a...

Thanks fellas for the kind words. I'm thinking of hiding the coil upside down under the parcel shelf, as I have with the single coil currently used. Hopefully that'll be fondue away enough. Well its been a while since I've updated this thread. Mid July was where I last posted up anything of worth. Little Imp got parked up in the corner of the workshop so leaving anough space for our neighbours to make use of the shed while we took off to England for a decent holiday. Hannah got to catc...

It looks like a toy car in those last two pictures! It's the background I think. A toy car that's showing some of the die-cast metal.

Repeating what I've said earlier - you are a so lucky with the solid condition of your imp. That underside looks great and even the front wishbones look in to be in excellent condition. If you want to have the cars underside prepped to a suitable level where you can just use it then is be tempted to...

Help needed- I am trying to locate Hannah's old Imp- not to purchase but out of curiosity. Hannah bought it in 2002 for 400 quid. We knew nothing about them at all. I didn't even know what it was when Hannah first spotted it sitting in the yard at a blokes place my mate was buying a van from. We pic...

That bitumen sheet is what is like to add to a couple of places to absorb buzz. Apart from an exhaust boom at 4000rpm most noise I note at 60mph is wind noise. Not much I can do about that.

Cheers. We built slideouts on our housetruck. They make a huge difference to the feeling of space so it made sense to add one on this. I don't know why other tiny house builders don't do them. It's worth the extra effort and bit of weight.

Re: Datsun engined Imp. First roadtrip...
A transaxle output shaft seal leaking, in my experience, results in the oil running down the casing and dripping off the bottom of the box with the doughnut staying dry. You say you have sealed the spider to the spline but again in my experience that's where the transmission oil comes from if it di...

I'll certainly check that again but i had cleaned the spider end thoroughly with brake cleaner and a tooth brush, let it dry in the sun. Both mine are used a lot , Singers tidy but hardly perfect , Vuskys an unpolished scanky workhorse - just the way i love it :D My Imp has been named leaky because one output seal still insists on weeping and a little bit goes a long way once it spins off the doughnut! A 12a is roughly about 110lbft torque at 4000 so not an absurdly huge amount. However isn't autocross quite harsh on drivelines?

Yeah I figure that is where the market is.. Folk who run such low cars that they need the extra driveshaft angle. Or those running huge power but then I figure the gearbox wouldn't last anyway? How much power can an imp box take if driven sensibly - not clutch dumped etc?

I am more concerned with a potential lack of grip in the front and am very weary of it ploughing straight on in a slippery corner. What tyre sizes and pressures are you running front and rear? This has 175/60 tyres on it. Certainly not a flash brand but they seem nice and soft. I was not sure on wh...
