Yes Peter they did paint them with the doors boot and bonnet on at the factory , paint was very thin in thie a post area , also the door skin was never hemmed over properly by the hing , another rust area . They probably used slave brackets on the bonnet as when you strip a original imp you can see ...

Seen some strange things done with su over the years Dave, the best was the sporting triles chaps that ran big imp,engines on twin 1/4 su, they replaced the floats with ping pong balls, this stopped them flooding on steep hills up and down.never suffered from fuel starvation ether . Baz fit a 28/36 lot less hassle if you are not familiar with su s . Go real well on a 930. Have some spare carbs and you can have one , but no manifolds left . Ps hope your bringing the acomedation, coming down on Thursday night now with mankin mark :D

I'm not certain, but i think its industrial fire blanket for welding operations. Clark Dawson fitted it for me when he was doing the bodywork.
