Re: Pimp2 - the rebuild starts

A great read Eric. In 42 years of playing with every Imp transaxle going, I have never found a main selector shaft with the end snapped off. Congrats on the effort.

Fill your petrol tanks before you go. I've just come back from Breda/Den Haag/Amsterdam visiting Clan friends and drinking plenty of Hertog Jan and the most expensive petrol is pushing £1.65 a litre

You will be lucky to find any unleaded below £1.50 a litre

If the clutch plate is as slack on the splines as you say when it moves it will not be spinning radially or axially true and will not engage the faces at the same time ( in effect the same as a high spot ) radially it will also have to centulise itself before engaging, and it's the only thing that ...

Bent crank? Flywheel mounting face of crank running out of true? Something stopping the flywheel being bolted up flat to the face? Set up a DTI against the flywheel face and rotate the engine by hand checking for any runout.

Dave,

Drain them, take the inspection covers off the bottom and look at the crownwheel teeth with a torch. If they are not scored, chipped, rusty or have gouge marks ie. they are nice and polished, I'll have them and sort you out a good deal on the rebuild of your road box.

Dave, Are you sure the oil leak is coming from the actual seal?
