There are two 1/32 scale (Scalextric size) kits available. One from Pendle Slot Racing and one from George Turner Models.

There is an open topped one in Sydney. It may be the sole survivor.

I've never seen one of the hardtop versions other than in magazines.

Regarding the air filter - that sounds like the same setup that was used on Imps in Australia. If it is the same the filters are still readily available here. A Ryco A89 is the appropriate one.

Franka covers it pretty comprehensively, other than that it's a Rally and not a Rallye. A Rallye is a Simca.

I quite like the X1/9 ones. When I owned a Simca (not a 1000 mind) I discovered it used a Fiat stud pattern, so those X1/9 wheels should bolt straight on.

Hi Bert,

On chrome bumper MGBs - some of them at any rate - they were fitted to the overriders.

They were also used on the very last batch of Series V Sunbeam Alpines, although I guess there wouldn't be many scrap examples of those around.

Tim Haynes had been compiling a register and last I heard he had around 150 Imps located in Australia. No doubt there would be others he doesn't know about.

Darn it. Mike Scott gave me an A4 photocopy of one of those years ago. I put it somewhere for safekeeping, but do you think I can remember now where that safe place was. Edit: Found it! I think someone in the club has made this up i.e. it's not a factory produced one, but it might do the job. ...

Hooray, finally these seem to be on sale: http://www.georgeturnermodels.com/index.php?page=shopping&shop_cat_id=4 I've heard some grumbles from the slot fraternity about the detailing, but it looks good to me. Possibly the wide arch one looks a little bit cartoonish, but otherwise I think they look ...

Still working away at stripping back the paint in the hatch opening. After trying a few things I've settled on a dremel as the most effective way of doing it. The gear on the rear axle will move, but you really need a suitable press to do it without bending the axle. I've got an MB Slot one like the one on the left below: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/BEEJAY7/Website/HPIM1757.jpg Before I bought the press I used to do it very gingerly with my vice.

John from Ocar slot cars announced on Slotforum tonight that he's planning an Imp resin shell too. We'll be spoilt for choice between Highway32, GTM and Ocar. There must be a lot of demand for Imps. I hope the big slot car makers (Scalextric, SCX, et al) are paying attention.

I've always been a bit wary of dust from the resin shells too, so I've tended to use a dust mask. The window insert does normally need trimming to fit. I haven't glued the window insert or interior in on any of mine - I figure I might want to take them apart again one day. On the two Imps I've built...
