Re: Adventures in Welding

I think youve stolen the award for triggers broom from me.

Was great to hear all the work youve done on archie and the photos are a brilliant history file. Cant wait to see this car back on the road. Massive respect for taking on the job and what a skill youve learnt from it.

So its been all go recently with percy. Next month brings the October issue of Classic Van and Pickup and Percy will be on the front cover and main feature. Other than a carb rebuild at the start of the journey to national and a lot of oil usage, Percy drove 808 faultless miles to national and back....

I'm guessing the logical place is the removable square piece on the later dash that has space for three switches. I think they are black ones.

Haha, single su would be great if I could find a manifold.

Spoke to Derek Couldry last night to advise it's not looking great for this afternoon and he has given me some great pointers and a 4 step guide to working on the carb. Heading back to the van shortly so will report back.

Re: Pete's Van Percy

Carb seems to work in the sense that you press the accelerator and you can see a jet of petrol spray from the Accelerator pump discharge tube. If you take the top off the solex, petrol comes out of the float needle valve and the float chamber has fuel. On the odd occasion it does fire, it won't idle...

Lol probably right col.

Think its just another dodgy solex as I changed that other one over and fitted new gaskets and cleaned it all up. Think I'll replace the pump too as I'm not confident about that either. Just teething problems.
