Re: Spaceframe Imps

At the end of the day there's only one way to find out who's car will be the quickest and that's to get racing.
Power to weight ratios matter less than skill behind the wheel and that is only learned (usually) from time
on track.
So see you all at Silverstone in May in the small cc class !

Nigel Hepburn is a guy from the Carlisle area who has a garage and designs and develops race and rally cars. He used to race a mini in NSSCC and did some sprints. Nice fella to talk to but I haven't seen him for a while. I know his garage got flooded with the Carlisle floods a few years ago and he w...

Yes it was an alloy blocked BDG. Salvaged the head only. Everything else is scrap including the bellhousing.
Farndon Steel crank & rods etc etc.......sob sob.
Repacement cost of a full engine is approx £28k !
Think I'll be putting something else in.

Re: Sprints, a couple of questions

3" 4 point belts I think are required for just about everything with a saloon car.
If your buying new belts buy at least 4 point anyway.
You don't need a medical for sprints or hillclimbs, only races when your over 45 years young.

Re: Special saloon race at Mallory Park

My information is that it is an invitation only race as Colin says and you have to be a CSCC member, but if there
is enough confirmed interest (and there seems to be at the moment) the CSCC may consider running a series which would be good.
Dust off all the old modsports cars !! (and drivers!)

Hi Harry,
I agree, but it was built for mid engine layout originally
with a BDA & Hewland so it will suit me better if I go bike
or maybe a V8 !
or maybe I'll just sell it.
Hows the historic build going ?

Re: Davrian Solo Stiletto

Hi, I looked at the Solo imp at Harry's with a view to doing a p/ex on my Davrian but decided when I saw it that basically as you say, it would need to be cut about too much which would take too much strength away from the original monocoque. In the end Harry bought the Davrian off me anyway. Thinki...

Both my Speads formula car and the Davrian are wet sump. The Speads has a Suzuki K5 and the Davrian an R1. No you are not overrfilling to that extent. If you do happen to put a little too much in it goes to your catch tank. R1's work fine with wet sump without modification to the pan as they have a ...

You hit the nail on the head. You can't run a bike engine in a car using bike quantities of oil. You must add more oil to couteract side loadings forcing oil out of the sump (together with a good baffle plate). Of the many cars racing with bike engines there are probably only about 5% that are dry s...

The main advantage of the dry sump is to be able to get the engine lower in the car improving the COG. Davrianracer, I also run in Mono 1200s and most of the engines in this class aren't dry sumped. Most people are using cut and extended baffled flat sumps. There are very few engine failures. Are yo...

R1 vs GSXR

Go for the GSXR if it's only £500 more. The 04 R1 was a lower revving engine than the 05/06 and was only producing about 150bhp whereas the new K7 is putting out about 187bhp with 88 ft/lb torque with max power now at about 12500 rpm. Almost as much power as a hyabusa ! Also the Gsxr is lighter and ...
