Re: VAK 1972 Clan Crusader
So, just to simplify it - for a road going Irish clan that needs new front shockers, and could possibly do with a suspension refresh, could I get away with Monte/Standard/RAC springs front or rear, and would a set of adjustable Imp shocks do the job? Ideally would like a good road setup for a comfor...

Do you happen to know what the specs are for front springs and dampers for an Irish Clan? Presumably same as for crusader. Dad is looking for new shocks (and possibly springs) for his?

Who the hell was in charge of ordering wasps for this year's national? Still undecided which route to take on Thursday. Do you have an ETA for passing M6 Hilton Park services - between Junctions 10A and 11? I might meet you guys there? Otherwise the option for me is towards Ludlow, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Redditch. Anyone else headed that way on Thursday? Rhydian

4 months since I posted last.. Time flies. Well, update - Husky passed MOT today with flying colours, although I did spot a slight imbalance in the rear brakes whilst it was on the rollers. Well, seems it's job done. Many thanks to Dave Lane for answering what must be pretty obvious questions - thanks mate will buy you a pint when i see you next (National?). In essence, all that was needed was to run a fat brown wire to carry the charge from the alternator to the solenoid, disconnect t...

Re: Dynamo to Denso?
Opinions. Need to either re-drill (enlarge) the 8mm hole on the water pump/alternator bracket to 10mm so the through bolt fits the alternator, OR, reduce the hole in the alternator to fit the water pump/alternator bracket. Seeing as a pack of 4 was less than a quid, I bought some copper pipe pieces ...

Re: Dynamo to Denso?
Thanks for that, but having gone belt and braces I've now shaved around 5mm off the bracket so it's all in line. Moving on to wiring: Big thick battery cable (red) will be ordered to take off the main terminal on the alternator to A: Solenoid or B: Battery? (I assume solenoid?) P: Pulse: Not used - ...

Copying? "Taking inspiration from" is how i'd like to call it! I'll have a look to see if there's an old bush nearby. I like the 'vibration damping' idea. Just need to get some cables this week - a new length of red battery cable, and some of that 0.30 cable you advised and we should be good to go.

Re: Dynamo to Denso?
Bit of an update. Shaved about 5mm off the alternator's bracket, test fitted again and it's much better. In fact, it's lined up as good as the dynamo was (on the saloon). Ok, had it on the saloon earlier cause it's easier to see what's what. Heres the photos. seems to be out a bit (quarter inch?) Are there diferent single groove pulleys on these sometimes? Dynamo to Denso?
I've managed to get hold of a small 40amp Nippon Denso alternator. But a few questions to those who've fitted them. 1: Do you use the 'aready fitted' pulley that's on the Denso, or something else (if so, what!???)? 2: With the existing pulley, on mine there seems to be a slight mismatch between pull...
